Scandic Mountain Guides

 We at the Scandic Mountain Guides specialisein ski touring/splitboarding trips in the wintertime and hiking tours in thesummertime. Scandic Mountain Guides is located in Siglufjörður, approximately1:15h by car from Akureyri.  

Tröllaskagi (Troll Peninsula) is our mainskiing and hiking area. It is a world-class skiing area with thousands ofslopes waiting for their first descents. In the summertime, there are infinitepossibilities to hike around the peninsula and to places where few people haveever been before. 

The founders of Scandic Mountain Guides,Jóhann Haukur Hafstein and Björgvin Björgvinsson are both former alpine skiracers and members of the Icelandic Olympic team. In recent years they havemainly engaged in backcountry skiing and freeriding during the winter andhiking tours in the summertime. Jóhann and Björgvin have also been runningScandics’ sisters' company VikingHeliskiing, focusing on heliskiing/heliboarding holidays since2013. 

Scandic Mountain Guides has developed a groupof the most talented crew. We have a powerful and skilful team of guides,ranging from professional skiers to mountain guides with UIAGM/IFMGAcertification and more than 35 years of experience in the industry. 

The Troll Peninsula has a varied terrain thatshould fit all skiers and hikers. And the views! The views are somethingspectacular for what it is worth to come and ski tour/splitboard in the northof Iceland in the first place. Viking Heliskiing allows our guests to do heli-assisted ski touring. That meansthe helicopter will fly you up to mountains that you would typically not beable to visit, and from there, your ski touring/splitboarding experiencestarts!
