Chief AI Knittakers

Salka Sól Eyfeld smiles as she knits a patterned sweater in an armchair in her living room, with posters on the wall behind her.

Salka Sól Eyfeld

Salka Sól Eyfeld is our Chief AI Knittaker for Visit Iceland’s AI Knittakers campaign. An Icelandic singer, actress, presenter and lifelong knitter, she first learned to knit at the age of eight and still regularly meets friends to knit and socialise. Her passion for knitting has helped inspire a younger generation to pick up the needles and embrace the craft. She also co-authored UNA, a knitting book created in collaboration with Sjöfn from Stroff Knitting.

A prominent and versatile figure in Iceland’s creative scene, Salka is known for fronting the reggae band AmabAdamA, her work with Reykjavíkurdætur and her role in the acclaimed Icelandic drama Trapped. Her creative career spans music, theatre, film and television. She has composed music for theatre productions, performed on stage, appeared in films and television series, written theatrical productions and lent her voice to countless animated characters.

She has also worked with national broadcaster RÚV, served as a judge on Iceland’s The Voice and won Female Vocalist of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards.
