Weather alerts issued in Iceland

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued severe weather alerts across Iceland with strong winds, rain and snow expected.

From 2 PM Wednesday 5th February until the afternoon on 6th February, mountain passes and numerous roads across the country will be closed.

Domestic and international flights have been disrupted and there are numerous flight cancellations to Iceland’s airports. International visitors are advised to check with their airline operator before travelling.

The Icelandic Tourist Board is working with local tourism operators to ensure that those currently visiting Iceland are aware of the situation and all residents and visitors are advised to remain indoors and avoid all journeys.
