Weather alerts issued in Iceland

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued weather alerts across Iceland, with strong winds and heavy snowfall expected on March 26, 2026.

The alerts will be in effect on Thursday, March 26, with orange alerts from 7 AM to 1 PM and yellow alerts from 5 AM to 8 PM across different parts of the country (red is the highest alert level, followed by orange and yellow). See en.vedur.is for detailed forecasts and alert locations.

Both domestic and international flights will be disrupted, and delays are expected at airports across Iceland during this period. International visitors are advised to check with their airline before travelling.

Strong winds of 18–28 m/s (65–101 km/h), with gusts up to 45 m/s (162 km/h), are expected, along with heavy snowfall. Visibility may be significantly reduced due to sleet and snow. Driving conditions will be difficult or impossible in some areas, and road closures are likely. Travellers are advised to exercise caution and monitor weather forecasts.
