Skjaldartröð, summerhouse

Experience Iceland's spectacular nature at Snæfellness peninsula.Often referred to as the center of the Earth, this area boasts breathtaking geological formations and coastal lines, the setting chosen in Jules Vernes "Journey to the center of the Earth”.

Arguably some of the best situated cottages on the entire peninsula are now for rent, providing you a unique and intimate experience with the many attractions on the peninsula. The cottages are situated just next to the protected area between Hellnar and Arnarstapi, on a larger private property facing South, with the glacier in the background and the sea in the foreground. This is the perfect location from which you can take day trips to the most interesting attractions of the peninsula just a short drive away.

Summerhouse: Skjaldartröð house is divided in to two separate apartments. They can be used separately or together. In that way you will be able to stay two families together yet have separate kitchens, bedrooms, toilet and sitting rooms. You are able to close the door and have privacy.

Cottages: Arabúð, Gardarbúð and Þórabúð are three separate cottages. They are all placed remotely in Hellnar and have view of the ocean and of Snæfellsjökull. The three cottages are exactly alike and hold three bedrooms, kitchen and living room, bathroom and big outside terrace with furniture’s and barbecue.

On-site attractions: Next to the cottages is the famous "Maríulind" where it is known to give a healing effect to those who drink the water. There is a beautiful walking path through the lava along the coast to Arnarstapi (3 km walking) and on the way there is many good places for bird watching.
